English singer/songwriter Geri Halliwell was born 51 years ago as Geraldine Estelle Halliwell (now Horner)  in Watford, Hertfordshire, is married and has 2 children.  She is also an actress and author.

In her teens, Geri worked as a dancer in a Spanish nightclub, a TV presenter as well as a model.  In 1994, she had an audition together with Victoria Beckham, Mel B and Melanie C and later showed their works to various management companies.  They formed the all-girl group ‘Spice Girls’ along with Emma Bunton.

Their performances were fruitful and they managed to sign a contract.  This enabled them to proceed with writing and recording songs as well as touring the US West Coast.

Their first single ‘Wannabe’ came out in 1996 and was a number one hit in 37 countries.  Right after this global success, the group members were nicknamed by the magazine ‘Top of the Pops’.  In particular, Geri got the nickname ‘Ginger Spice’.

The band had 9 more number one hits including ‘Say you’ll be There’, ‘2 become 1’ and ‘Viva Forever’.  Then, in 1998, Geri left the band as she was having disagreements with the other group members as well as suffering from depression .

Geri began her career as a solo artist a year after leaving ‘Spice Girls’ by releasing the album ‘Schizophonic’, followed by a second one two years later.  Hits from these albums include ‘Look at Me’, ‘Mi Chico Latino’ and ‘It’s Raining Men’, amongst others.

In 2007, Geri reunited with the ‘Spice Girls’ and they released a ‘Greatest Hits’ album and also went on tour.  The group reunited for a second time in 2019, this time without Victoria Beckham.

Apart from music, Geri wrote 2 autobiographies as well as a set of children’s books.  She also created a swimwear collection for ‘Next’ and appeared in several TV shows, documentaries and films.  Halliwell will be starring in the movie ‘Gran Turismo’ which is due for release in the coming days.  She will also be publishing a young adult novel named ‘Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen’ in the first week of October.

So far, Geri received 5 awards plus an honorary doctorate from Sheffield University in 2022.  She is also an active philanthropist towards human rights and violence against women campaigns.
