British singer Tanita Tikaram was born 54 years ago in Munster, West Germany and is single. She also writes songs and specialises in pop and folk music.
Tanita spent her childhood years in Germany but moved to the UK together with her family when she was a teenager. She attended college and gave singing performances in nightclubs, where she was noticed by an American record label company.
At age 19, i.e. in 1988, her debut album was released, which featured the tracks ‘Good Tradition’ and ‘Twisted in my Sobriety’ that became Top 10 European hits plus selling more than 4 million copies globally.
Until 1992, Tikaram had 3 more albums which, however, did not prove as successful as the first one. Following this, Tanita went to the US and took a 3-year hiatus from music. In 1995, she resumed her music career and released an album which received better reviews and sales. By the end of that decade, she had another studio album plus a compilation one.
Once again, Tanita stopped from her career and returned in 2005 with a new album and another one after 7 years. She has been touring the UK and Europe since 2013.
To date, Tikaram had 12 albums and 24 singles.
